THURSDAYS AT RUBYS
Head back in time to a traditional 1950’s Jazz Club, where the drinks would flow and the band would provide blissful moments of escapism from the daily grind.
Each event pays tribute to legendary artists of the past – a journey through the sounds of New Orleans straight through to New York, featuring some of London’s best musicians often found on stage at the finest jazz clubs including the world-famous Ronnie Scotts, Soho’s Pizza Express, The 606 Club and The Hideaway.
We occasionally have live artworks from the wonderful Jonathan Ellis which provides a very special touch. Jonathan draws and paints each individual band member while they perform throughout the night. His artwork is available to purchase at the end of the night – a great opportunity for guests to pick up something unique and very special on their way home.
DJ Jazzie Geoffrie warms things up and fills all the breaks with his cool mix of of straight-ahead 50’s be-bop and swing.
“Jazz has a chequered history, but its influence – and its performers – survive and resurface in unlikely places” – The Guardian
